‘Reality’ by Lost Frequencies is a great summer jam, perfect for those sunny days cruisin’ in your car. The song came with the popularisation of tropical house earlier last year in 2015 after artists such as Kygo and Robin Schulz helped the genre enter the mainstream.

Now it’s typical these days for artists to remix songs with a greater EDM influence to it. This cover by Donell Lewis and Kennyon Brown isn’t new but it’s one of my favourites and I believe, a great showcase of originality. They changed a few of the lyrics around and produced the song with an R&B spin to it. With R&B being one of the most popular genres back in the day, it was only right for these guys to take a current popular genre and mix it up. And it works great. This is ‘Reality’ sounding fresher and more distinct than ever.

The video is completely different to the original’s music video as well. Whereas the official music video had bright and vibrant colours, with an outdoorsy and nature feel, this video is filmed in 240p with dark colours and features just these two guys in streetwear singing. Yep, this is definitely old school.

Out and about in the sun? The original version’s got you covered for summer vibes. Just kicking back and chilling? This version’s got you covered for that.
