Just when you thought Hollywood had run out of fresh ideas, Jaume Collet-Serra brings us yet another psycho-shark thriller as Blake Lively battles to save her life. Sexy girl and CG-shark seem terrible in theory, but could the two evils be brought together to make something beautiful?

Blake Lively’s days as an Upper East Side socialite may be over, but you can now watch her surf (alone, of course) at an isolated beach and subsequently become stranded as a massive shark comes for her life. Other people die too because this is kind of a thriller.

OK, I know they’re terrifying buggers, but if there’s one thing the internet has taught me, it’s that sharks are misunderstood sea-puppies that just want some love. I feel kinda sorry for them, y’know?

Look at this poor guy. LOOK at him!

'The Shallows' looks much better than it should. Does that make it good? Probably not. But if there's one thing I can appreciate, it's a decent trailer with a diverse selection of shots that make a film which very well could be terrible, look actually alright. While I am deeply conflicted about what the final product of this film may be, I'm certainly optimistic that director Jaume Collet-Sara delivers something worth the watch.

'The Shallows' has to be better than 'Sharknado,' right?

Synopsis from IMBD:

When Nancy (Blake Lively) is attacked by a great white shark while surfing alone, she is stranded just a short distance from shore. Though she is only 200 yards from her survival, getting there proves the ultimate contest of wills.
